Sustainability
Our mix of measures for environmental sustainability – 6 steps on the way to a livable future
Responsible companies in the mechanical engineering sector also need to think about environmental sustainability. For TEKA, the sustainable use of natural resources or the switch to the use of renewable energy is an important concern. We strive to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and want to do our part to slow down global warming and preserve our planet for future generations.
Industry and business cannot do entirely without the use of natural resources. However, in our view, it cannot be a worthwhile goal to manufacture ever cheaper products at the expense of people and the environment. It is much more important to find solutions for operating in a more sustainable and environmentally friendly way.
We present our approaches here.
Reducing energy consumption
The use of modern technologies aims to increase efficiency while reducing energy consumption – and thus conserving limited resources. TEKA has been pushing the switch to energy-saving LED lamps for several years now. In 2020, a modern and energy-saving lighting concept was introduced and the entire factory lighting system was converted to energy-saving LED hall downlights. The following year, we modernized the entire administration building and also equipped it with energy-saving LED lights.
Using solar energy
As early as 2009, TEKA installed 538 solar modules with a total output of approximately 200,000 kWh on the roof of the production hall. These supply the entire company with electricity and additionally increase the general share of solar power by feeding it into the public grid.
Installation of modern equipment
Six years ago, a new paint shop was built with a modern exhaust system and a new filter system. This meets the highest environmental standards and allows our employees to work in a healthy environment.
Paperless office
Our goal is to introduce a paperless administration and thus reduce the need for the natural resource wood. By acquiring and installing a new document management system throughout the administrative area, TEKA has moved a great deal closer to its goal of paperless administration.
High standards in the selection of suppliers
We pursue a stringent supplier policy. Only suppliers who do not make profits at the expense of the environment or at the expense of other people are considered.
Maintenance instead of new purchase
TEKA mixers and plants are manufactured for robust and long-lasting use. With regular maintenance and cleaning, our mixers and plants have been in use by many of our customers for well over 30 years. Durable assets conserve natural resources and contribute to environmental sustainability.
